Everybody wants to fix things, both left and right. What we have is a war between ends and means. The left in particular cares little about means as long as they fix the current problem at hand. They don’t care if it creates other problems in the process. In fact, most politicians (left and right) want to fix things in a way that creates other problems, so they have job security; so you have to continuously rely on them.
Libertarians want to fix things in a way where you don’t have to rely on anyone; or at least have the option to choose who you rely on. The libertarian purist would say that ends never justify means. They would say that initiation of force against a person or their property to correct anything is objectively morally wrong. Defensive force is okay.
There are other libertarians that would argue that initiation of force is okay on extremely rare occasions. Every one except the libertarian purist would have exceptions to “ends never justify means”. Considering that there are many different political issues republicans and democrats of all kinds pick and choose what those exceptions are.
We need the type of people in our government that will change things in a way that will make their own jobs obsolete. Then the money that would go to them can go back into the market for every one to use. The problem is that it is too easy to misuse power intentionally or not. The type of people that we need in the government are the type of people that don’t like power but will use defensive force to eliminate the power that already exists.
